The main chemical components of cordyceps are cordycepin and adenosine - active substances whose presence in the fungus determines the quality of the cultivation. They can play a role in a wide spectrum of biological processes, for instance in intercellular transport of energy. Other active ingredients are polysaccharides, cordycepic acid, and vitamins A, B, C, E, 16 amino acids, superoxide dismutase (SOD) as well as zinc, selenium, magnesium, iron, and potassium. Calcium is a mineral that is needed for the maintenance of normal bones and teeth. It also contributes to the normal function of digestive enzymes and muscles. Increased demand for calcium occurs both in young organisms as well as among the elderly. Calcium contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism, therefore it ensures our energy is properly utilized and balanced during the day.
